Testimonial - Recipient of United Way of Hernando County's $500 Leadership Scholarship at the 41st Student Recognition Banquet

“The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce Student Recognition Banquet was a real honor to be a part of.  Working hard in high school and taking on leadership roles was by far so very rewarding.  I was rewarded by the United Way selecting me as one of their scholarship recipients in recognition of all my hard work.  This generous scholarship helped me purchase my textbooks for my first year in college and I will always be truly grateful to them for this great honor.  It is so important for our generation to work hard and try to be a leader throughout their high school journey, set an example for everybody else and being a good person with a big heart will lead you down many other great roads.  It made me focus on my future in becoming a nurse and has paved the way for me to be successful.  Thank you to everyone at the United Way that saw that strength in me and honored me with your generous scholarship."

Samantha Page, Weeki Wachee High School
Nursing Student at Florida Gulf Coast University

Last year the Chamber recognized 52 of Hernando County’s outstanding and emerging leaders and awarded over
$15,000 in scholarships thanks to community businesses and leaders with a passion for Education.
